Hove House.

Hove House.

A five-bedroom house designed with daylight in mind and wrapped around a beautifully landscaped courtyard.

Hove House is a contemporary home that stretches across two floors and is built around a central courtyard space with a beautiful garden and swimming pool area.

Client : Baobab Developments

Architect : Turner Works

Landscape architect : Nicholas Dexter Studio

Photographer : Jim Stephenson

Completion year : 2019

Light Bureau designed the lighting to enhance the visual connections across the courtyard space – illuminating key vertical surfaces within the bedrooms and living space to provide the rooms with a high level of transparency.

The lighting throughout the building is designed with daylight in mind and the ambient electric lighting has the same directionality as the natural light. The luminaires that provide the ambient light are concealed within architectural details, whilst decorative floor lamps and pendants are given the space required for them to stand out within the space and work together with the furniture.

The lighting is designed to allow for a high level of flexibility and for the house to adapt to the client’s needs over time.
